At the Veluwe you can come face to face with deer and wild boars. At the Veluwe you can take lovely bike rides or walks through the vast forests, heathlands and sand sprains. The regions of the Veluwe
The Veluwe has many special nature resorts, forestry guards, estates and former hunting grounds. From the century-old sand paths in the Speulder- and Sprielderbos to the sloping heathlands of Planken-Wambuis. From the Kootwijkerzand; a unique conspiracy between sand and wind, to the vast forests of the Deelerwoud. From the pine forest Steilhul to the stately castle garden around villa Oud-Groevenbeek. From the largest estate in the Netherlands, Kroondomein het Loo to the natural charms of the Vierhouter forest. And there is still a lot more. Nature on the Veluwe: there is always plenty to see.
The Big 5 of the Veluwe
With safaris in Africa one always talks about “the big 5”. At the Veluwe we also have this order as a larger diversity of animals and plants live in this forest, heathland, fenland and drift-sand area. “The big 5” of the larger animals at the Veluwe. Starting with the red deer, the largest wild land mammal found in the Netherlands.
Followed by the wild boar, a real wrecker, who turns over large piece of land with his snout looking for food. Then the mouflon, ancestor of the domestic sheep. Naturally the deer is part of the Veluwe, the deer species that lives solitary and finally the badger, hiding in his burrow during the day and on route during the night.
Discover the Veluwe in various ways: cycling, walking or even horse riding. And how great it is to do this from a holiday home at the Veluwe.
A few examples: Holiday home the Peppelboom (poplar tree) in Putten. The home is situated along a century-old sand path in the Speulder- and Sprielderbos. Or in the quiet Ede; surrounded by imposing ancient oaks, holiday home Farm Nieuw Reemst. The Veluwe: versatile nature resort in the heart of the Netherlands
